For the past 20 years, at the end of each summer approximately 300 Union Station graduates, current residents, staff and volunteers, along with their friends and family members, have gathered in Farnsworth Park in Altadena for an annual celebration. They look like any other group coming together for a day of fun. However, they quickly distinguish themselves as something much more than that as they share their stories during the 12-Step meeting, which has become the traditional start of Union Station’s annual Alumni Picnic. This event is a fun-filled day of music, games, raffles, mouth-watering barbecue and warm fellowship. The attendees embrace this gathering as a special time to reconnect and celebrate their accomplishments. Our alumni are people whose appreciation of life comes from nearly having lost everything.
